A particularly boisterous discourse between a high school teacher and me revolved around which VF’s song was best. He chose ‘Never Tell,’ I chose ‘Kiss Off.’ One thing we both agreed on: ‘I Held Her In My Arms’ sucks.
I have a half-baked idea to create a mix of great songs where there’s a one-note synth flourish during the chorus and no other synth anywhere else in the song, but I can really only think of “I Held Her in My Arms” and “Sex and Dying in High Society” by X.
