Dance Disaster Movement - Got the Piece of Mine (Shoot Me In the Fucking Head)

As far as I know, until just now I had only heard this song once in my life. Charlie Z., one of too many kings among men with whom I’ve thoughtlessly lost touch over the years, played it for me shortly after its release during one of our two college radio shows. I don’t remember for sure, but I’m guessing it was during our intra-campus-only-station show, because nobody ever listened to it and we mostly used it to test out new releases and “have you heard this”es on each other.

The song itself isn’t very good, and could only have occurred during the flash of time when the world seemed to take this type of music seriously (Hot Hot Heat), but for some reason the chorus (such as it is) has stuck with me, in spite of my only hearing it that one time, and runs through my head almost every time I think about a time I did something stupid or embarrassing (quite frequently, it turns out).

I bet at least one of these guys plays in one of those new sunglasses bands now (cf. The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower).

(I feel like I should point out that Charlie is normally a man of extremely discriminating tastes, and any enjoyment he may have wrung out of this song was likely a result of coming of age in Southern California during the brief and terrifying reign of Gold Standard Labs.)

(That one Gogogo Airheart album holds up, though.)
