It’s weird that people don’t talk about the Gerbils as much as other Elephant 6 bands. As much as Neutral Milk Hotel might have blown my sixteen year-old mind out of my skull and as smartly as Olivia Tremor Control presaged the garage-psych revival, I’m getting older and I really just want to hear Scott Spillane singing snappy, fuzzy songs about how cool it is that his girlfriend’s favorite band is still Sebadoh.
